Faye’s rocks are both timeless and contemporary; imposing yet not impassive. They are people, and the scenes they inhabit portray very human relationships, friendships and families, and consequently are surprisingly tender.
This ambiguity extends to us imagining and interpreting the status of these relationships. Although the rocks in these tableaux vivants may stand physically unchanging for centuries, the emotions and conversations depicted are fluid and we could imagine them completely changing with the turn of a head, or indeed with the momentary state of mind of the viewer.
Case in point: The painting that stole its way into my heart, speaks to me of the poignant relationship between a parent and child: firstly, the clumsy efforts we make to nurture and protect the vulnerable young one, even while risking stumbling and injuring them at any moment; and conversely, the surprising strength and support the child may give us – just by being there, trusting us, hugging us – when we ourselves are at our most vulnerable. Yet the artist entitled it “Against the Odds”…I have no idea what she’s talking about.

I enjoy/collect Steffies works as I see her limited colour palette as an ideal way to achieve atmospheric artistic effects. She portrays the landscape in transitory weather situations and her work is dominated by dramatic skies with contrasting light providing the main focus

"These earrings are modern, classic, light enough to wear all day but big enough to make an impact!"

Mellissa's use of bold use of colours had us unsure of whether her paintings would overpower the room. Mellissa was so helpful bringing her paintings to our house to see them in the space and gave us time to ponder.
The longer the painting was in the space, the more we loved it. And now it just feels right!
We're looking forward to Mellissa's next project that will hang in our main hall entrance.
