This necklace features hand-painted gumnuts by the Aboriginal Women of Camel Camp from the Utopia region of Australia. These gumnuts have been painted black and decorated with red, orange, yellow and green brushstrokes that look like flowers.
When we collected these unique beads, they still smelt of the smokey fire the women sat around as they painted these gumnuts.
Australian jeweller, Christine Smalley created this neck piece by adding glass, wood and ceramic beads to accompany the gumnut beads for the Breathing Colours Collection.
