Collection: Dusk to Dawn by Steffie Wallace

Steffie Wallace studied Fine Art in Melbourne, where she resides, majoring in painting and printmaking. She initially attended life drawing classes aged 16 at the National Gallery Art School for 2 years in the 1960s. 

‘As a landscape painter who has been painting and exhibiting since the 1970s, I was first influenced by abstract expressionism and later by JMW Turner and the Australian Impressionists. I choose to portray the landscape in transitory weather situations dominated by dramatic skies and my work reflects the unpredictability of nature with the emphasis on fleeting experience’.

Steffie regularly exhibits both locally and overseas, and her work is held in numerous collections. She has won awards both in Australia and internationally, the most recent being the Gagliardi Gallery Award at the 2021 London Art Biennale, and 1st Prize in the Bayside Gallery’s 2021 ‘Portrait of Place’.
