Collection: "NEOCHROME" an Exhibition by Julius Haag at Balmain Space. 11th March to 2nd April 2023
Julius started his artistic journey in 2001 when he began his apprenticeship as a sculptor and stonemason in the rural city of Hannover, Germany.
His final works qualified him for a scholarship allowing him to travel and work through Europe for the next year.
The countries he visited and the buildings he worked on left a lasting impression.
Julius has been working in restoration and conservation of heritage buildings since he arrived in Australia in 2005.
Julius worked on many iconic buildings and structures through Sydney & Melbourne CBD.
Structures that have been standing for centuries and that with the work of the dedicated artists in the stonemasonry community will be standing for many more to come.
This restoration and conservation has been Julius's main focus for the better part of two decades.
Over time his interest started to shift and develop towards new materials and he began to create his own bodies of work.
Julius draws inspiration from organic materials, focusing on showcasing its natural texture, colour and beauty; He aims to enhance the intrinsic features and not alter them.
All of Julius' works are made to the highest standard and many of them are able to withstand exposure to any weather conditions making them suitable for indoor and outdoor spaces.-
